Ambassador Gianfranco Facco Bonetti
Italian diplomat, he graduated in law and attended the "Course in preparation for the diplomatic career" at the Ispi in 1966. He started his career as a diplomat in 1967. In 1970 he worked at the Italian Embassy in London. In 1974 he was appointed Consul at the Italian Consulate General in Koper (ex-Yugoslavia); three years later he worked at the Italian Embassy in Tehran (Iran). In 1982 he was co-founder of the United World College of the Adriatic.
In later years, he worked at the Italian Embassy in Frankfurt and Moscow. In 1989 he was appointed Minister Plenipotentiary Second Class and 8 years later he was promoted to Minister Plenipotentiary First Class. In 1998 he became Italian General Director for Cultural Relations; and in 2000 he was appointed Minister Plenipotentiary.
From 2001 to 2006 he was Ambassador at the Italian Embassy in Moscow. In 2008 he returned to Moscow when he was appointed Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Russia.

The President :
The President of the College is appointed by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Regional Government upon proposal by the regional Minister of Education and Cultural Activity, after obtaining the consent of the “United World Colleges (International) Limited”.
The President is the legal representative of the College and convenes and chairs the Council of Administration meetings, handles relations with the "United World Colleges (International) Limited”, with the other Colleges within the organisation, with the National Committees for the United World Colleges worldwide, as well as with Governments interested in the operation and development of the UWC of the Adriatic.
