Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada SACKVILLE, NB has awarded Kristina Mansveld one of the University’s leading entrance awards, the Bell Scholarship, valued at $48,000 over four years.
She was awarded the scholarship because of her strong academic ability, leadership potential, good citizenship, and commitment to volunteer work, extracurricular activities, and work experience.
Kristina is currently studying international relations, with a keen interest in economics and environmental studies. She also plans to get her Master’s in an area of international relations, and eventually work in journalism or diplomacy.
After spending two years at her local high school, LV Rogers Secondary School, Kristina Mansveld was awarded a full scholarship from the BC government to attend a two year International Baccalaureate program at the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy. During her high school days in Nelson, she helped fund raise for War Child Canada, played and coached soccer, and collaborated with the Celebrate Africa Service Group - raising funds to help build a well and a school in Sierra Leone. In Italy, she was involved in a conflict resolution group for at-risk immigrant youth, as well as an environmental organization.
Kristina is also highly involved at Mount Allison, participating in the Students’ Administrative Council as Board of Regents rep, as well as Eco-Action, a campus environmental society. She also volunteers with UNICEF, War Child, and founded the Sackville Ethical Giving Campaign, which provides positive, eco-friendly, and socially responsible alternatives to conventional Christmas gifts.
