The Director of Studies interview panel had a tough job to select just one individual from a very strong field of international applicants. Each candidate had an excellent track record and performed very well in interview, but after much deliberation the panel settled on two candidates, with one being preferred, narrowly, by two members of the panel over the other.
As a consequence it is my pleasure to announce that, starting from next academic year, the Director of Studies will be Kristen Faust from New Jersey, USA.
Kristen is a Maths specialist, who is currently working as an IB Coordinator in a small specialist science high school in the US which offers the IB Diploma to all students. She is inspired by the holistic vision of UWC education and looking forward to working with us all to develop this into the future. Kristen brought a refreshingly different view in her interview and we're all looking forward to welcoming her and her husband to Duino in August.
Rettore of UWC Adriatic"I am very excited to join the UWC community and the town of Duino. I believe in lifelong learning, and I'm looking forward to working with and learning from your enthusiastic students and staff. I love teaching math, and I'm excited to work with students from all over the world both in the classroom and as the Director of Studies. My husband and I can't wait to become familiar with the culture and language of Duino and the UWC Adriatic and learning alongside with the incoming first-year students in the fall. We look forward to meeting new people, visiting new places, and exploring the environment around Duino."
