Description of courses

In order to obtain the IB Diploma, a student is required to study 6 subjects: 
   • one subject from each of the groups 1-5, plus 
   • either Visual Arts 
   • or a second subject from any of the groups 1-4

 

Group 1


First Language Language A1 (Literature) : English, Spanish, Italian, Tutored and Self Taught Languages

 

Group 4

Experimental Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Systems (both group 4 and 3)

 

Other Diploma Requirements

Theory of Knowledge and World Literature

 

Group 2


Second Modern Language (levels: B HL/SL and ab initio; languages: English, Italian)

 

Group 5

Mathematics and Mathematical Studies

 

Group 3

Individuals and Societies: History, Economics, Philosophy, World Arts and Cultures, Environmental Systems (*see Group 4)

 

Group 6

The Arts: Visual Arts
