Major donation by Shelby and Gale Davis

The Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge is a major donation by Shelby and Gale Davis to UWC, totalling USD 15 million for all UWC Colleges

Starting from August 2015, the Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge will match new and increased donations from alumni, parents and friends up to the value of one million dollars per college.

UWC alumni have increasingly been supporting their UWC colleges showing that they value the experience and want to provide the same opportunities to others. UWC’s biggest supporters Shelby and Gale Davis have been observing this trend over the years and now want to reward and further stimulate alumni generosity. They also recognise that parents and friends of UWC are among our greatest advocates so the program will also match their gifts.

In practice this means that new donations and increased donations received from alumni or their friends and family, will be matched dollar for dollar, thereby doubling the gift. Recurring donations will be matched 50%. To qualify for this matching program, each College will have to increase its number of donors every year.

“The world needs extraordinary leadership to navigate today’s complex challenges, tensions and conflicts, as well as to make the most of new opportunities. The UWC movement is ideally suited to provide such leaders and we are privileged to support it.”

“We believe in the potential of UWC students and we believe in the power of leading by example – thus our decision to step up for UWC at this time. We hope many others will join us to provide more UWC scholarships for aspiring youth from all parts of the world.”

Shelby Davis
Each year UWC provides unique educational opportunities for nearly 2,000 talented students. Many of the students we select are from financially less advantaged families in nearly 150 countries. Shelby Davis’ support will ensure we continue to award places to new students based on their merit and potential. In this way we preserve the diversity of our student body – something of which we are immensely proud.

“This is extraordinary news for the UWC movement which offers the most extensive scholarship programmes in the world for students in international boarding schools. But we are always striving to do more to further increase our student diversity. Shelby Davis has an outstanding record of supporting UWC, and we invite others who embrace the UWC mission to join him in giving us the capacity to reach more young people.”
