A special musical event will entertain our Community next Sunday, 12 February, at 11.00 am in the College Auditorium. As a final event of the Wind Instruments Masterclass organised by the Accademia Regionale di Strumenti a Fiato, the “Serenade Ensemble” concert will host the Tirana-Trieste Wind Ensemble playing music by Italian 18th and 19th century composers.
The ensemble brings together musicians from the wider Adriatic region, a cultural region that was so dear to Predrag Matvejevic, with students from Friuli Venezia Giulia and from the Tirana Conservatory. The programme will include music by Luigi Cherubini, Antonio Salieri, Gaetano Donizetti and Gioachino Rossini, mostly known as opera composers but who greatly enjoyed exploring different instrumental genres.
This wind ensemble is formed by Carlo Venier (flute), Xhovana Marku (oboe), Defrim Mala and Giulia Fonzari (clarinet), Luka Grego and Andrea Sfetez (horn), Ridvan Shaqia and Giacomo Sfetez (bassoon), and Cristiano Velicogna (bass clarinet).
The Tirana-Trieste Wind Ensemble’s performance will be preceded by a double ouverture by the brass Serenade Ensamble, composed by the students of the chamber music courses of the Academy.
This concert is one of the events of the musical spring season of UWC Adriatic, open to collaborations with other musical and cultural institutions in our region. Guests from outside the College are welcome.
