On February 16 the Director of the Fondazione Giovanni Agnelli, Andrea Gavosto, visited our College and addressed our students during an International Affairs talk (INA). The talk addressed the role of education in a students’ future but also on how statistics clearly show that government spending in education helps boost growth.
The Agnelli family’s name has a longstanding link with the UWC Movement and the Fondazione Giovanni Agnelli scholarship has given Nada Ladraa (1st year from Italy) the opportunity of a lifetime to come and study in Duino. Andrea Gavosto’s visit was therefore an excellent opportunity for Nada to meet him and express her gratitude to the foundation. “ UWC combines a highly advanced and innovative educational model with values that underpin a peaceful and sustainable future for our world”, she says. “Andrea Gavosto’s talk today has made me even more aware of how crucial this combination is. I am truly grateful to the Fondazione Giovanni Agnelli for enabling me to be a part of this College where every day I learn that a better future is indeed possible thanks to the values upheld by UWC”.
