I Can WE CAN

The students meet Italian peers at Istituto Max Fabiani – Deledda in Trieste to discuss youth participation in volunteering activities

On a fine day in February our students visited the Max Fabiani high school in Trieste to share their experience as volunteers within the framework of the project I can WE CAN, funded by the Centre for Volunteering Services (CSV). The volunteering activities discussed involved refugee work and working with disabilities and included a presentation by the presidente of the Italian Association for Multiple Sclerosis (AISM), who collaborates with the Help Centre of the Municipality of Trieste.

College students also distributed a questionnaire aiming to assess how many youngsters in the 16 to 18 age bracket are involved in volunteering activities. The data collected by the College volunteering association Mondo 2000 will subsequently be used by the regional authorities and  CSV in order to launch specific initiatives for increasing youth participation in volunteering activities in local schools.
