On June 14th the 18 partners of the Municipality of Trieste signed the memorandum of understanding “Trieste City of Knowledge“. The College and the other partners (which include the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics – ICTP, the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology – ICGEB, SISSA and the University of Trieste), have thus renewed and strengthened for the next 5 years their commitment to join the local administration in its efforts to promote the area as a scientific and human sciences hub.
“Universities, research and higher education institutions based in and around Trieste have made this one of the areas with the highest density of research workers in Europe”, stated Angela Brandi, Councillor for Education, Schools, University and Research of the Municipality of Trieste. The Trieste City of Knowledge network is collaborating on a number of projects, starting with the organisation of the forthcoming science festival Trieste Next, to be held on September 21-23 2017.
