Through the I can-WE CAN project, supported by the regional volunteering agency (CSV), Mondo 2000 has set out to understand the way in which youngsters (16-19) view or experience volunteering activities. This could best be achieved by asking young people themselves by means of a questionnaire distributed in schools around the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
On the one hand, the questionnaire aimed at collecting data about any volunteering experience they may have had and their reflections about it. On the other, if respondents had no volunteering experience whatsoever, it aimed at understanding what their expectations about volunteering are and what kind of community service might appeal to them and why. Distributing the questionnaire in local high schools was also an opportunity to engage with teachers, who are strategic partners in any project aiming to increase the participation of youngsters in volunteering. Ultimately, Mondo 2000 aims to use the data thus collected in order to promote volunteering as an educational and personal development opportunity. Ideally, it aims to partner with schools so as to create a system for community service alongside the recently introduced system for internships (Alternanza Scuola Lavoro). An article about the project is available in the link below.
