On February 2nd the College participated in the award ceremony of the arts competition “Questa volta metti in scena… Peter Pan”, organized by the association Opera Viva for arts students in the region. Out of about 200 submissions 11 were by UWC Adriatic students:
Amstrong Annika (Barbados)
Kauuvosari Lotta Karolina (Poland)
Shi Youbeibei (China)
Tromboczki Juliana (Hungary)
Yie Jiaxuan (China)
Daralnakhla Arein (Palestine)
Ginocchio Jose (Argentina)
Stochita Radu-Ioan (Romania)
Halgunset Hedvig (Norway)
Knowles Ethan Daniel (Bahamas)
The artwork used different media (painting, drawing, textiles, photography and mixed media). Once again some of the awards were handed out to College students: Ethan Daniel Knowles (second year from Barbados) and Jiaxuan “Kyle” Ye (1st year from China).
“Our students”, commented Visual Arts Teacher Lorella Veglia, “are always excited by this challenge. Competing with arts students from all over the region is quite exciting. This year’s theme seems to have posed an extra challenge on all participants, perhaps because they are all so very young. And yet the works submitted were extremely interesting and creative, expressing many different perspectives on the figure of Peter Pan and the difficulty of approaching adulthood.
