UWCAD Student Foundation

There is a group of students who are committed to cooperating all year long in order to support the needs of the UWCAD student community and people in need outside the College: the UWC Adriatic Student Foundation. This is one of the social services in UWC Adriatic and this year the team members are: Dler Khalaf Awsman (Iraq), Ethaniel James Aspin (South Africa), Lotta Karoliina (Finland), Mohammad Al-shaboul  (Jordan), Mor Ben Haim (Israel), and Sofia Cotrona (Italy). This group of students and the service leader Anja Busarcevic (Serbia) deserve to be credited for the great work that they do and what better time for this than April 15, Good Deeds Day?

This year the student foundation has carried out several initiatives, both inside and outside the College, such as organizing clothes sales to support refugees and students in need, selling cookies to buy the kitchen equipment needed in the student residences and visiting the Fondazione Luchetta in Trieste, which helps children from war-torn countries to receive medical assistance in Italy. During their visits our students gave these children toys and played with them, providing moments of fun and joy to kids that are going through very difficult experiences far away from their home countries. “Being a member of this team is a wonderful and rewarding experience”, says 1st year student Dler, “because day after day it proves that collaboration among students can actually succeed in bringing about simple but significant changes in the College community and beyond”.
