Education can change the world

After two significant accolades in 2017 a new milestone for UWC Adriatic

After the “Changemaker Schools” award received from Ashoka Italia and the College’s accreditation with Penta International, in 2017, the Archivio della Generatività Sociale of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan has identified our College as an educational institution capable of generating social change.

The website of the Archivio has published a feature on UWC Adriatic (in Italian) that summarizes with great clarity the significance of the UWC educational project. The article is accompanied by a video in which Rettore Mike Price, Secretary General Valentina Bach and several students illustrate what a UWC Adriatic education is all about (some of the interviews are in English).

“The educational method developed by the United World Colleges can certainly be defined as generative. It is based on the ability to promote the student’s full development by cultivating and tending to their intellectual, moral, aesthetic, emotional, social, spiritual and physical potential, through experiential education, collaborative learning, community interaction and exchange (…) Central to the UWC educational model is the celebration of difference, which far from being considered as a problem, is regarded upon as an opportunity for all the parties involved to widen their horizons and learn more effectively. This is reflected in the different components of College life and has become a working method in class.”
