14 July 2018: ESOF – Toulouse passes the torch to Trieste

UWC Adriatic is one of the numerous academic/scientific institutions in the Trieste area, and one of the 5 institutions set up in the region Friuli Venezia Giulia in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake 40 years ago (alongside the University of Udine, SISSA, SSLMIT – School for Interpreters and Translators of the University of Trieste and Area Science Park). The college is therefore now thrilled to join the Trieste scientific community in announcing:

ESOF: TOULOUSE PASSES THE TORCH TO TRIESTE

Trieste will be the special guest of the EuroScience Forum 2018 Toulouse closing ceremony, receiving the mandate to organise the next edition of the forum in  two year’s time.

The EuroScience Open Forum, ESOF, is well established as the biggest general science conference in Europe. It was organized for the first time in Stockholm in 2004 and has since been held every two years (in Munich, Barcelona, Turin, Dublin, Copenhagen and Manchester, with Toulouse hosting ESOF in 2018). ESOF is the European meeting place for scientists, science teachers, media, politicians, industry and the public at large, and aims to:

  • Present scientific and technological developments at the cutting edge from natural sciences to social sciences and humanities;
  • Stimulate the European public’s awareness of and interest in science and technology;
  • Foster a European dialogue on science and technology, society and policy by offering a platform for cross-disciplinary interaction and communication between the public, politicians, policy makers, industry, the media and scientists on current trends and future roads for science and technology, their
interaction with society and policy and the role of the public.
