Open Position at UWC Adriatic

UWC Adriatic is seeking candidates for the post of Rettore (Head of College) to succeed Mike Price as of August 2019

UWC Adriatic is seeking candidates for the post of Rettore (Head of College) to succeed Mike Price, our esteemed Rettore in the past seven years who is retiring at the end of the current academic year.

UWC (United World Colleges) is a global group of 17 schools and colleges united by a common purpose to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

UWC Adriatic was founded in 1982 and has a proud history as the first United World College established in mainland Europe. Uniquely located within the picturesque village of Duino on Italy’s Adriatic coast, the College forms an integral part of the local community and is an important part of the wider region, which hosts a great number of national international academic and research institutions, particularly in Trieste. UWC Adriatic is home to 200 students drawn from across the world and offers a transformative, residential educational experience. The College is committed to the value of holistic education which brings together the academic rigour of the IB diploma, an extensive extra-curricular programme and a strong emphasis on service, compassion and personal responsibility.

The College President and Board of Directors are now seeking a talented and highly motivated school leader to succeed Dr Mike Price who will retire in 2019 after over seven years of highly successful leadership as the College’s Rettore.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational educationalist with a track record of successful senior leadership and an understanding, gained through experience, of the nature of leadership in a residential school context. He or she will be a compelling ambassador for UWC Adriatic on a local, regional and national stage, and will have the skills to contribute to the wider UWC movement. A genuine resonance with the UWC mission and values is essential and whilst knowledge of Italian is not essential, a willingness to learn is highly desirable.
