International Mother Language Day 2019

On February 23rd some College students joined the International Mother Language Day celebrations in Monfalcone

International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on February 21st to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The idea of celebrating International Mother Language Day was initially put forward by Bangladesh, where February 21st marks the anniversary of the day when Bangladeshis fought for the recognition of the Bangla language.

On Saturday 23rd six College students attended the celebrations organised by A.M.I., an association based in Monfalcone promoting multicultural exchanges. Participating students were: Anahit (Armenia), Elizaveta (Russia), Felista (Kenya), Nayla (Mozambique), Rowan (Canada) and Teodora (Montenegro).  They contributed to the event with lovely performances: songs, poems and dances celebrating diversity that were greatly appreciated by the audience.
