Second-years taking Visual Arts at the College are participating in the “Biennale Internazionale Donna 2019”
On March 8th of this year in the splendid setting of the Magazzino 26 in Trieste the second edition of the Biennale Internazionale Donna exhibition was inaugurated. After the successful debut of this art exhibition dedicated to female artists in 2017, this year’s edition includes the artwork of UWC Adriatic’s Visual Arts students.
The wonderful location of the Magazzino 26, made available by the Municipality of Trieste, is hosting artwork by one hundred and forty female artists from Africa , Australia, China, India, the Americas and Europe. The main innovation in this new edition consists in opening up to future generations of artists with College students from 15 nations also taking part in the exhibition:
| Annika Armstrong (Barbados) | Dorian Kirchbaum (Austria) | Melos Shataloja (Kosovo) |
| Arein Daralnakhla (Palestine) | Sofia Merino (Mexico) | Jacob Sirkin (France) |
| Cara Gilliland (UK) | Hala Murad (Syria) | Noela Spada (Croatia) |
| Laura Gioli (Italy) | Mano Onni (Estonia) | Imme van Beurden (The Netherlands) |
| Ye Jiaxuan (China) | Lea Rappl (Croatia) | Esraa Youssef (Egypt) |
College students have been personally involved in setting up the exhibition and took their “Project Week” in Trieste in order to be ready for the opening on March 8th. Having the opportunity to exhibit their artwork for the IB in an official exhibition in such a magnificent setting has been extremely exciting for all the students involved. During the inauguration of BID 2019, on International Women’s Day, a group of College students from another Project Week also held there a fashion show of clothes made with recycled materials.
The College students’ exhibition and the entire BID 2019 can be visited on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday from 10:00am 7:00 pm until 26 May at the Magazzino 26 in Porto Vecchio, Trieste.
