A music season that celebrates diversity by offering a blend of musical cultures
<<Spices can be mixed together to create new and interesting flavours – thereby unravelling entirely new worlds. Much in the same way, a concert season comprising different genres, traditions and instruments can open up new journeys and routes across different lands. Thus we are offered a “taste” of unusual flavours that extend our sensory perceptions>>. So says Chiara Vidoni, Art Director of the ICMA – the International Community Musica Academy – in describing the new concert season for “Note di Spezie”.
More than twenty concerts, all of which with free admission, set in different locations in Friuli Venezia Giulia: at UWC Adriatic in Duino, but also in Udine, Pasian di Prato, Bertiolo and Palmanova.
For the second consecutive year this project has been supported by the regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia and undertaken in partnership with Mondo 2000, Comune di Duino-Aurisina/ Devin Nabrežina, Comune di Bertiolo, Associazione Culturale Musicale di Bertiolo “Filarmonica la prime lûs 1812”, Associazione “Scuola per giovani musicisti” con il progetto ESYO (European Spirit of Youth orchestra), Associazione Culturale Musicale Euritmia, Gruppo Folkloristico di Passons, New Virtuosi, Liceo Scientifico Statale “France Prešeren”; in collaboration with Fazioli Pianoforti, the magazine q.b., Chiesa di San Cristoforo (UD), Museo Revoltella in Trieste and the Municipality of Campolonghetto.
Among the project’s objectives: to promote an exchange between regional/national musical players and to give young musicians the possibility to meet and learn from professional musicians (with regard to both classical music and ethnic music), so as to advance a deeper appreciation of different musical cultures and their cultural backgrounds.
