Azeez comes from an Êzidi community in the Sinjar region of Iraq and escaped from persecution by Daesh in 2014.
What impressed the UWC Iraqi National Committee in Azeez is his inner strength, his intelligence and strong determination to help children and youth in his community. The quality of his work as a volunteer (teaching English, raising health and psychological awareness, empowering disabled people, running activities for peacebuilding and religious tolerance and against child marriage) and the reputation he achieved in the NGO community in his area are quite remarkable.
He is now attending his first year at UWC Adriatic and his dream is to learn and grow into a change-maker for his people. Thanks to many alumni and friends of the College we have raised 23.000 euro for his first year in Duino. With your help we can provide him with a scholarship for his second and final year in Duino!
