On February 24-26 all UWC Adriatic students returned to their respective countries or went to stay with host families in Italy or in other European countries. The college faculty and administrative staff, on the other hand, are at work and are constantly in contact with students, their parents and host families. The college successfully organised an online platform in just a few days to enable teachers to hold their lessons at the college with students attending in remote: the transition to online teaching was successfully implemented on Monday, March 2nd.
Given recent developments in the diffusion of the Coronavirus in Italy and in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the temporary closure of the college has been extended by at least another week. UWC Adriatic will therefore not reopen on March 9th as originally planned.
The college would like to emphasise that this is a precautionary decision taken in response to the Friuli Venezia Giulia’s regional government’s recent decision to keep local schools closed for an additional week.
The UWC Adriatic faculty and staff will continue to monitor the situation closely with the utmost attention and to provide assistance to students, their parents and host families. The college would like to thank the Duino community for its repeated expressions of interest and fondness for UWC Adriatic students.
