In 2019, UWC Adriatic joined Assifero, the national association of Italian grant-making foundations and private institutional philanthropy. Being part of such a major association is in tune with the concept of philanthropy as more than mere economic-financial support, as evidenced by Assifero’s promotion of networking, expertise sharing and collaborative approaches, which all underline the significance of human, relational and intellectual resources striving for the common good. This applies even more to those institutions such as our College, whose raison d’être lies in educating young changemakers – soon-to-be champions of social change.
In the following interview, Assifero Secretary-General Carola Carazzone gives an overview of the current scenario of Italian institutional philanthropy and of the way educational and cultural institutions such as the College can improve the lives of entire communities.
