New Partnership with Rise

Join us on Wednesday, 18 November, when UWC & Rise will be hosting a webinar entitled “The Power of Youth”

A new global talent program called Rise has been launched today by Rhodes Trust and Schmidt Futures in collaboration with the United World Colleges (UWC). It aims at offering an education programme at a refugee camp in Kenya to 60 students and full scholarships to 15 students to study at one of the 18 colleges diffused worldwide.

On Wednesday, 18 November UWC & Rise will be hosting a webinar entitled “The Power of Youth”. The event will highlight how transformational education programmes — such as a UWC education — empower young people, including those from underserved communities, to become changemakers and make a positive impact on communities around them. The event will feature reflections from three UWC alumni, who came to UWC from vulnerable backgrounds, who will share their stories and explore the different ways their UWC education impacted their journey supporting change in their home communities.

Additionally, UWC-USA’s President, Victoria Mora, will give a welcome address, Cassie Crockett, Schmidt Futures’ Director & Head of Strategy will give an overview of their new initiative and there will be a moderated Q&A session. The event will be moderated by UWC alumna and Al Jazeera journalist Zaheena Rasheed.
