A possible future thanks to the Fondation Assistance Internationale

5 students from Iraq, Palestine and South Sudan, as well as an unaccompanied minor living in Italy will attend UWC Adriatic in 2021-23

In the early months of 2021, the first activities of “Un futuro possibile” (“A possible future”, n.b.), a project funded thanks to a significant contribution from the Swiss foundation Fondation Assistance Internationale (FAI), will take place. The support provided by this international institution will allow five young refugees or internally displaced persons from Iraq, Palestine and South Sudan, as well as a foreign, unaccompanied minor living in Italy to attend the two-year academic programme at UWC Adriatic.

During the first six months of 2021, the selection process carried out by the National Committees in the above-mentioned countries will be completed. The project “Un futuro possibile” started last week, when the first online meetings with National Committees representatives were held.

The three therefore have diverse backgrounds and careers but they are united by their UWC education and share the same aim to build a better future for their own countries. Each has chosen to do so in his own way and all have also decided to take an active part in the UWC selection process and thus discover young changemakers and future leaders inspired by UWC values and ideals. Thanks to their efforts and to the crucial support form FAI, in September 2021 UWC Adriatic will be able to offer six young refugees or IDPs a unique, transformative learning experience which will change their lives and their view of the world forever. Students like Ibrahim, who is currently enrolled in his second year at UWC Adriatic.
