As a continuation of the 2019 project OPEN DOOR for the promotion of community service among young people between 16 and 19 years of age in our region, UWC Adriatic, with its association Mondo 2000, continues to promote volunteering as an essential component of the education of young people.
In collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Contributions in 2020 for volunteering organisations pursuant to art.9 par.1 of L.R. 23/2012), the College has therefore promoted the inclusion of volunteering opportunities among the internship opportunities (PCTO) offered to schools in the area. As in person activities were suspended over the last academic year, these projects were carried out remotely, for example the College’s Volunteering Fair on 9 April 2021, dedicated to the theme of equality.
The event was organized in collaboration with the following schools: UWC Maastricht (Netherlands), ISIS “D’Annunzio- Fabiani” in Gorizia, Liceo France Prešeren in Trieste and Liceo Buonarroti in Monfalcone. In a time marked by lockdowns and online learning, this event provided a welcome opportunity for young people from different schools to meet, discuss and exchange views.
The topics covered during the workshops were: Religion and Culture, Gender, Equality and Sexuality, Economy and Society, Disability and Learning and Ethnic Minorities.
