Classes at UWC Adriatic are once again taking place in person as of today. Lessons had moved online on 22 March when a number of students had gone into isolation following the news of some coronavirus cases among the family that runs the village’s convenience store. Thanks to the College’s coronavirus containment measures and to our community’s response to this emergency, only five students have tested positive: they are all feeling well, having experienced only mild symptoms. These students are therefore currently in isolation.
Thorough and repeated testing of students has taken place over the past few weeks, with students in isolation being regularly tested as required by ASUGI (Regional Health Authorities). The students still in isolation will be tested again in the next few days and – provided that all tests turn out to be negative for the second time – we expect no students to be in isolation by the end of this week. Of course, all Covid-19 containment measures will continue to be in place as they have been throughout this difficult academic year.
The IBO has moved our school onto the non-examined route for the IB Diploma for the graduating class of 2021. Consequently, for second-year students the term will end on Thursday 29 April, in line with when IB exams were due to start. First-year students will remain in Duino as expected and depart on Sunday 23 May.
