The books donated by our College have arrived in Madagascar!
The Mixte high school is the only public high school in Hell – Ville, the capital of Nosy Be, a large island to the north of Madagascar. Mixte High has 1,452 students and 38 teachers. For families with little financial means, this is the only opportunity to access a quality education, as all other high schools are private. Despite the efforts of the school management, the high school has very little equipment, especially as regards the library and computers. The school also lacks a medical centre to help those students who do not have access to health services and necessary drugs which are very expensive.
The project proposed by the “ELPIS Nave Ospedale” O.N.L.U.S. wants to help improve these two aspects. The project will be running from April 2021 to February 2022. regarding IT, thanks to a donation received from MIB Trieste School of Management, the IT room will be modernised and equipped with new computers. Furthermore the medical centre will be established and will be manned by volunteer doctors from “ELPIS Nave Ospedale” O.N.L.U.S. Students will therefore be able to access medical visits – including with specialists – and receive pharmaceuticals for free. UWC Adriatic has contributed to the project by donating one hundred books.
