Sofia and Michela receive their scholarship from Fondazione Caritro

Since 2017, Fondazione Caritro has supported 8 students from the province of Trento admitted to a United World College

On Thursday, June 9 at Palazzo Del Bene in Rovereto, Fondazione Caritro held a ceremony to celebrate the young students it has supported in their international educational experiences: 3 students attending a UWC as well as those attending 11th grade abroad via the Intercultura exchange programme. The event was also intended as an opportunity to inform local high school students about the life-changing educational experiences available thanks to the Foundation’s invaluable support.

Indeed, Fondazione Caritro is committed to offering local students opportunities to experience different cultures and appreciate diversity as a way to develop the soft skills required to navigate our global society. Since 2017 eight young people from the province of Trento have had the opportunity to attend UWC Adriatic thanks to the full scholarships provided by the foundation.

The event held on June 9 started with the opening address by the President of Fondazione Caritro, Carlo Schönsberg, who stressed the importance of this type of experience:

“
Studying abroad is about so much more than just learning a new foreign language, or discovering a new educational model. It is a learning journey that provides you with a whole new set of experiences which will be with you for the rest of your lives,” he said.”The value of this sort of experience is truly priceless. Things may not always be easy or straightforward, but you will find yourselves enriched by this experience”
”

After a brief presentation about UWC Adriatic and Intercultura, the beneficiaries received their scholarship: Angelica Di Donato – who attended a school in the United States (Intercultura), Sofia Ferrari  –  who went to Hungary (Intercultura), Lucia Fogolari – who went to Latvia (Intercultura), Zaira Esposto – Germany (Intercultura), Alvaro Pagnusat – Greece (Intercultura), Sofia Uliana – Norway (UWC Red Cross Nordic), and Michela di Giorgio – Wales (UWC Atlantic College). The students then addressed the audience of high school students and shared their experiences and  the enormous impact this opportunity has had on them.
