Unione Italiana visits the College

President Maurizio Tremul meets the College President and two scholars

On March 20th the College President, Ambassador Cristina Ravaglia, met Maurizio Tremul, President of the Unione Italiana, an organization representing the Italian-speaking communities in Croatia and Slovenia.

The visit was also an opportunity for Mr. Tremul to see the two students currently at the College thanks to the two full scholarships offered by the Unione Italiana. Simone, from Pula, thanked President Tremul for giving him the opportunity to attend this first year at the College, where he is experiencing

“
a great diversity of perspectives and cultures that have changed me deeply. I have grown so much here, both academically and personally. I have learned to become independent and responsible and this has encouraged me to always try and do my best
”

Teo, from Koper, who is in the last part of his UWC experience, also expressed his gratitude for being able to get an education in a place that

“
has encouraged me to grow much more than I had expected. Not only academically, but especially as a person
”

After graduation, Teo plans to further his studies in his favourite subject, biology. He will be able to do so in the United States thanks to the Davis UWC Scholars scholarship programme.

The Unione Italiana has always provided scholarships to students from the Italian-speaking minority in Slovenia and Croatia wishing to attend UWC Adriatic. A new call for applications for the Unione Italiana selections for 2023-25 will be published online in the coming weeks.
