On Saturday, 20th May the College community, many students’ parents, and many UWC Adriatic supporters and friends gathered in Trieste at the Politeama Rossetti theatre for an inspiring Closing Ceremony.
The words of the keynote speaker — former UWCAD teacher and IB World Arts and Cultures pioneer Henry Thomas — the students’ joyful musical performances, and the moving graduation ceremony will be fondly remembered by the nearly 600 external guests in attendance.
The graduating class of 2023 could not have wished for finer celebrations and have now begun the next chapter of their lives as young UWC alumni across the world. Forty-five will pursue their university education in the US (at Yale, Stanford, Princeton and Harvard, among others), while twenty-seven will attend university in Europe and two in Asia, with fifteen heading off to exciting gap year experiences.
The College is proud of all of its students. Each one has faced many challenges, contributed generously to the College community, and is leaving Duino with a wealth of experience, knowledge, UWC values, and friendships. Our warmest wishes and “arrivederci” to the Class of 2023!
Our next and final event to commemorate the 40th anniversary of our founding will take place on Saturday, 30 September in Venice.
