Celebrating the generations of  UWC Adriatic of 1991-93, 1992-94 and 1993-95.

Reunions at UWC Adriatic are more than just a time to reminisce about the transformative years spent at the college; they are invaluable opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the institution that shaped their lives.

On July 12-14, we hosted another unforgettable Reunion where the alumni from the generations of UWC Adriatic 1991-93, 1992-94 and 1993-95 celebrated three decades of friendship and growth. 

During the plenary session of Saturday morning, alumni shared their journeys since graduation, reflecting on how the UWC values and their time at the college had impacted their lives and careers. Our Rettore, Dr. Khalid El-Meetal, presented his ideas on the UWC Adriatic educational model, whilst our  Secretary General, Valentina Bach, outlined how the scholarship and fundraising system has significantly changed, becoming more sustainable through the establishment of the UWC Adriatic Endowment Fund and offering scholarships to 90% of the College’s students.

On Saturday afternoon, we gathered to honour Angelo Friolo, the beloved photography teacher whose influence is still felt by many alumni. Contributions from Elizabeth Sutcliffe and the Friolo family made the event truly special. At the end of the ceremony, a plaque in memory of Angelo Friolo was unveiled at the Art Centre. Additionally, a book of photographs curated by Angelo Friolo’s former students was announced, capturing the essence of his teaching and the creativity he inspired.

The day concluded with a Gala Dinner on Fore Lawn as was a beautiful way to end a weekend filled with nostalgia, gratitude, and the spirit of community of  UWC Adriatic.

Reunion Gift

In keeping with the spirit of generosity and community, this 30 years Reunion raised funds to support Espérance, an aspiring student from Togo, to come to Duino. This scholarship will provide Espérance with the opportunity to experience the transformative UWC Adriatic education.
