On Wednesday, 8 October 2025, at the invitation of the Schmidt Foundation and Barcolana Sea Summit, the College will open the doors of its Academic Year Opening Ceremony to the wider school community, welcoming teachers and students from our Region to discover up close an international educational model founded on coexistence, dialogue, and commitment to the future of our planet.

The event will begin at 4:30 pm at the Generali Convention Center Auditorium, with a rich programme designed to inspire the educational community:

  • The Parade of Languages and Cultures: a festive and engaging moment featuring our 184 students from around 80 countries.

  • A live interview with the College President and Rector conducted by two students, on the theme “United World College: Education for Sustainability.”

  • The presentation of the Ocean Research Challenge (Duino, 27–28 September), carried out in collaboration with CNR and WWF, which will involve students in tackling real-world issues such as sustainable aquaculture, the fight against microplastics, and ocean acidification.

  • Music and dance performances inspired by the students’ cultural backgrounds, showcasing their talent and passion for the performing arts.

The invitation is extended to all teachers and students attending the Barcolana’s morning activities: an opportunity to experience an innovative, multicultural educational model, meet students and educators from all over the world, and be inspired by an approach that places education at the heart of global change.
