A UWC experience is Forever

While our community is centred in Duino, it also extends around the world through our alumni and friends.

Our alumni network is a testament to the enduring nature of the UWC experience. With over 3,900 alumni scattered across the globe, the community remains active and engaged long after leaving Duino.

Many continue to seek meaningful ways to stay involved and support the College, whether through financial contributions or by delivering talks or mentoring students intending to pursue similar careers.

The Early Staff of Duino – Appreciation Event

3-5 October 2026

A special reunion open to alumni who graduated up to 1992 in Duino and to the early staff members who helped shape the life and spirit of the College in its formative years.

We are delighted to invite our alumni community -particularly those who graduated up to 1992 – to a special reunion in Duino, dedicated to the early staff members who helped shape the life and spirit of the College in its formative years.

Taking place from 3 to 5 October 2026, and coinciding with the UNESCO-designated World Teachers’ Day, the gathering will offer a meaningful opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the lasting impact of those who guided not only your academic journeys but also your personal growth.

The programme will culminate in the Opening Ceremony of the College (on Monday 5 October 2026), creating a shared moment of recognition and gratitude. Alumni are warmly encouraged to join us for this unique occasion.

Here are some instructions regarding transportation to the College via key local transport links. In general Google Maps provides reliable transport information in Italy.

From Venezia Marco Polo Airport
  • Shuttle
Check the bus timetable from Marco Polo to Venezia Mestre station. From Mestre Station take a train (train timetable) to Monfalcone (c.12€) duration c. 1hr25. Then follow instructions from Monfalcone train station below.
  • GoOpti Airport Transfers
GoOpti offers private or shared airport transfer services from Venezia Marco Polo, Ljubljana and other airports directly to Duino. The cost can vary depending on how far in advance the shuttle is booked, the time of transfer and the number of people sharing. It usually costs between €40-120.
From Trieste Airport

The G51 bus runs from Ronchi Airport to Duino every 30 mins (+/-) from 05:55 to 23:30*. Tickets can be bought at the machine in the bus station at the airport, or via mobile on the app TPL FVG.

Be sure to get the right bus at the airport as there are lots of buses going to other cities, such as Udine. The bus should say Trieste G51 on the front and the bus journey between the Airport and the College is approximately 27 minutes.

From Monfalcone Train Station

The G51 bus passes near Monfalcone train station. The bus stop is a 5-minute walk down the hill. Cross over to the other side of the road and take the bus heading East. The front of the bus should say G51 Trieste. Tickets can be bought at the newsagent at the train station, or via mobile on the app TPL FVG.

You can find an interactive travel planner with bus times here and google maps usually also has the correct time table. There are usually 2 buses each hour*.

There are 3 bus stops in Duino, the main bus stop outside the College is called Duino 28 (SP 2, Centro).

From Venezia Santa Lucia Station

Trains run from Santa Lucia to Monfalcone, you can consult a train timetable. Once at Monfalcone follow the instructions above.

From Trieste

The College is located closer to Monfalcone train station than to Trieste so if you are travelling by train from the East we advise alighting at Monfalcone and following the instructions above. If you are planning on coming to Trieste earlier, or arriving by Flixbus or other transport serving only Trieste, Duino is served by 2 bus services.

Please note that it is not the 51 local bus (which runs from outside the station), but the G51 bus you require which goes from inside the bus station. Tickets can be purchased from the machine located next to the bus stop or or via mobile on the app TPL FVG. This journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Slower Bus

Alumni Reunions

Reunions are usually held yearly in July, when alumni celebrating 10, 20, 30 or 40 years from graduation return to Duino and contribute to new scholarships for the incoming UWC Adriatic generation.
All alumni, of course, are invited to attend regardless of their year of graduation.

For further information, email us.

In 2026 we hosted four reunions: the 30 Year Reunion (generations 1994-96 & 1995-97) & the 25 Year Reunion (generations 1998-00 & 1999-01); the 40 Year Reunion (generations 1984-86 & 1985-87). Alongside the 40th Reunion, we also hosted a group of European UWC USA alumni (14-16 & 15-17), who will celebrated 10 years since their graduation.

Ways to support UWC Adriatic

Many alumni continue to seek meaningful ways to stay involved and support the College, whether through financial contributions or by serving on their UWC National Committees, contributing to finding new generations of UWC students. Others visit Duino as often as they can, enjoy meeting students and teachers and deliver talks or mentor students intending to pursue similar careers.

Fully aware of the opportunity that the college has offered them, our alumni constitute the vast majority of the college’s individual donors, generously giving their support every year to enable future students to follow in their footsteps.

Annual Fund Challenge Committee

All individual donations of €1,000 and above are matched by the Annual Fund Challenge Committee, a group of donors who jointly challenge the UWC Adriatic community to support the College’s fundraising campaigns.
