Voices for Peace – UWC Day in Piazza Transalpina (GO)
Sunday, 21 September 2025 – 3:30 p.m. – Piazza Transalpina, Gorizia/Nova Gorica
On Sunday, 21 September, we invite you to join us in celebrating UWC Day – observed across all 18 United World Colleges worldwide – under the theme “Voices for Peace.” This date is no coincidence: 21 September is globally recognised as the International Day of Peace and Ceasefire, established by the United Nations to promote nonviolence and dialogue among peoples. For this reason, the UWC movement chose this symbolic day as a moment of reflection and collective commitment. At UWC Adriatic, the day will begin in the morning with artistic activities and theatre workshops in Duino, involving all students in preparation for the afternoon performance.
From 3:30 p.m., students of UWC Adriatic, representing more than 78 countries, will enliven the historic Piazza Transalpina with performances of music, dance, theatre, and poetry. The afternoon will conclude with a collective performance dedicated to dialogue, reconciliation, and unity.
The event is part of the programme of GO!2025 – Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture, celebrating a shared cultural identity and cross-border collaboration, in perfect harmony with the UWC mission: building a global community committed to a more peaceful and sustainable world.
A symbolic and meaningful occasion, held in a square that once marked a border and has now become a place of encounter.
Free admission – no reservation required.
