ROLE

Rettore of UWC Adriatic

Khalid has been first and foremost a teacher for the past 30 years and has held middle and senior leadership positions in Europe, the Middle East, and North America. He has experience working with a number of national education systems as well as the IB programmes.

A man with short gray hair wearing a dark blazer and white shirt stands outside, smiling softly at the camera. Green trees and blurred outdoor scenery are in the background.

Khalid holds an undergraduate degree in European Economics from the University of Nantes in France and a PGCE from the University of York in the UK. In addition, he has completed a Master’s degree and a Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on the development of teachers’ professional knowledge.
At UWC Adriatic, Khalid feels incredibly fortunate as an educator to be part of a movement that supports the physical, intellectual, and emotional development of young people as they engage in meaningful ways with their local, national and global communities. He genuinely believes that this provides a life-changing experience for students and has already seen many examples of how this transformation occurs in the first days and weeks of the academic year.

Khalid’s first year at Adriatic coincides with the 40th Anniversary of the College: a significant milestone that will be celebrated in three key moments of the year, starting with the 21st of September − which is also the International Day of Peace and UWC Day.

“
The complex nature of the challenges of the present and the future are undeniable. However, the UWC values that we live by every day at the College and the impact that the UWC educational model has on our students enable us to look confidently ahead. In doing so, I look forward to resuming the closest of ties with the local and regional community, which have always stood by Adriatic’s side – even when the pandemic temporarily prevented us from coming together as we have always done
