Valentina Bach has been serving as Secretary General of UWC Adriatic since 2014, bringing over two decades of experience in international development, educational leadership, and nonprofit management to the role. A proud alumna of the College, Valentina embodies the values of the UWC mission in both her professional and personal journey.

Her long-standing commitment to UWC Adriatic has taken shape through key leadership roles: from overseeing development and communications, to directing finances and strategic planning. She has played a pivotal role in strengthening the College’s financial sustainability, cultivating major donor relationships, and securing resources that make UWC Adriatic’s scholarship programme one of the most inclusive across the movement.

In 2024, Valentina was appointed President of the UWC Stock Weinberg – Edward Sutcliffe Foundation, further extending her contribution to the UWC mission through strategic support for scholarships and educational access.

Valentina began her career with over a decade of experience in managerial training and consulting for local governments across Italy, with a strong focus on strategic planning, participatory governance, and evaluation systems. She worked with more than 40 municipalities, often facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement processes, and also published on these themes — including a 2007 volume on strategic planning and the Balanced Scorecard for local authorities.

Since returning to UWC Adriatic in 2002, she has led international and EU-funded projects that foster cross-border cooperation, community service, and student engagement — a focus that continues to inform her vision for the College today.

What distinguishes Valentina’s leadership is her deep belief in education as a driver of peace and social transformation. Whether developing multicultural initiatives or mentoring students, she works tirelessly to ensure that UWC Adriatic remains a space where young people from all walks of life can come together to learn, serve, and grow — not just as scholars, but as global citizens.
