10th Volunteering Fair at the College

The Volunteering fair of the college is a ten-year tradition rooted in the mission of our College to promote social responsibility, empathy, conflict resolution and community engagement.

Over the past decade, it has grown into a space where students and local organisations come together to explore the power of service and the impact of compassionate action.

This year’s edition, held on 11 April was guided by the theme “Dove c’è accoglienza, ogni voce conta” , which followed months of preparation and outreach, including our Common Ground volunteering activity in Monfalcone, a Project week with children in Sistiana, and earlier workshops held at the Prešeren high school in Trieste. Each initiative contributed to shaping a shared understanding of service as something active, inclusive, and deeply human.

At the start of the event, we enjoyed a performance by our own Gentlemen of Duino with “The Wellerman”  and a powerful speech by our second-year student Nikolina.

The fair itself featured interactive workshops led by our students Narel, Arsenii, Jonelle, Emilia, Maho (UWC Adriatic 2024-26) , Valeriia and Emma (UWC Adriatic 2023-25), inviting participants to reflect on cultural exchange, active listening, equality, and the way we speak to—and about—others. Alongside these, a powerful panel on migration brought together representatives from  Caritas, DONK, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and School of Peace FVG.

Joining us this year were over 100 students and guests, including participants from Liceo F. Prešeren of Trieste, ISIS S. Pertini of Monfalcone, and Educandato Statale Collegio Uccellis of Udine.

Organising the event once again was Mondo 2000 ODV, with Eva Paglia (our co-curricular activities coordinator and psychologist) and President of Mondo 2000 Barbara Laporink continuing their long-standing work with the college.

Now in its tenth year, the Volunteering Fair remains a living expression of what it means to connect, care, and make every voice heard.
